JGI History

Johnson Gage and Inspection (JGI) began in May of 1988 in Wichita, KS, in response to the need of many local companies for a calibration provider familiar with the practices and standards of the aerospace and general manufacturing industries. JGI set out to be the preferred choice for calibration, certification, and inspection by offering high quality service and fast turnaround at a lower cost.

JGI started, like a lot of companies, as a home-based operation. Two employees performed basic dimensional metrology services, and quickly expanded to pyrometry and electrical testing. Eventually, laser testing was added to inspect surface plates, coordinate measuring machines and CNC equipment

New Capabilities

In May 2001, JGI relocated to its present 10,000 square foot facility. As relationships with customers evolved, it became clear there was a desire for a single source for sales, distribution, calibration and certification.

In 2005, JGI opened a Sales and Distribution Department, offering a wide range of products from many industry-leading manufacturers. The sales department’s mission is to be the preferred choice of our customers for purchasing precision measurement and testing equipment by offering good value, effective technical support, and conscientious account management.

Accreditation

In early 2009, JGI became an ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 accredited laboratory through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). A2LA certifications are recognized by ILAC, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation, so JGI certifications are recognized around the world as valid and acceptable. Our Scope of Accreditation is always a work in progress, continually expanding and improving.

Agility to Meet
Your Needs

JGI has continually expanded its range of services in response to the needs of its existing customers, which has resulted in steady client growth. Today, the quality requirements of the aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing industries are constantly growing and changing, and JGI is always adapting to meet these challenges.
